Launch of the North Suburban Cricket Association
Sun, 18 Jan 2009AFTER more than 30 years, the Wanneroo Cricket Association has officially changed its name to the North Suburban Community Cricket Association.
The Association was officially re-named at a historic meeting of the clubs in November 2008.
As per its charter, the NSCCA will continue providing a high quality cricket competition for developing juniors and senior players in the northern, western suburbs of Perth.
The northern western area of Perth has grown rapidly over the past few years.
Association President Tim Park said the new name was a reflection of that rapid growth and a significant turning point in the Association’s history.
The historic occasion was celebrated and the new name officially christened at a special function on Sunday 18 January.
It was held at the North Beach Cricket Club at Charles Riley Reserve, during the closing stages of the Inter-association game between the NSCCA and the Perth Cricket Association.
At the function, the Association’s President Tim Park launched the new web site and logo.
The new logo and web site were designed to coincide with the name change.
Several special guests were invited to the historic day, including NSCCA Patron Troy Pickard, the Mayor of Joondalup.
Also on the invite list was WCA life-members Glen Weise, Terry Brooks, Dave Ellis, Mick Jones, Liz McLennan, John Stewart, Maureen Stewart and Stephen Bomford.
Other special guests included representatives from the WACA and Cricket West.
In officially launching the new name, Mr Park said recognised the considerably time and effort that has been put in to the cricket community under the banner of Wanneroo Cricket Association.
These people are many, but special mention must go to John and Maureen Stewart and Terry Brookes for the many years of administration they have put into running our cricket association," he said.
