NSCCA grows 14pc in 2009-10
Tue, 29 Sep 2009THE North Suburban Community Cricket Association is continuing to grow and expand, which is presenting some welcome headaches for its administrators.
Osborne Park Cricket Club has entered the competition for the first time this season, nominating three teams; one each in C-Grade, G-Grade and the One-Day Competition.
The Saints have moved to the NSCCA from the Perth Cricket Association.
Their home base will be at Robinson Reserve (Show Grounds) on Royal Street in OsbornePark.
That is the club’s number one ground, while their one-day team is likely to play on a number of different grounds during the season.
With fixtures due to be released some time this week, the NSCCA is expected to field eight teams in grades A-F and ten teams in each of the G and H grades.
There will also be two divisions of seven teams in the Paragon Training League (PTL) one-day competition; making it a grand total of 82 teams for the competition.
That marks an increase of almost 14pc, from the 2008-09 season, when the competition had 72 teams.
NSCCA President, Tim Park, said “our biggest problem is with grounds”.
“We are starting to struggle to house the extra teams coming into the competition,” he said.
