Season update - urgent meeting of clubs

Tue, 29 Sep 2009

ALL CLUBS are required to attend the final pre-season meeting of the North Suburban Community Cricket Association, at 8pm on October 7, at the Wanneroo Sports & Recreation Club, Crisafulli Street in Wanneroo.

NSCCA president Tim Park, said it was Important all clubs were represented at the meeting to ensure they become fully aware of all changes for the 2009-10 season, including the introduction of MyCricket,

“This meeting is particularly important because now that we have lost day light saving, we will be reverting back to the by-laws regarding times, and there will be an early start for the first two games,” he said.

NSCCA registrar and fixtures guru, Grant Manzoney, is close to finalising this season’s fixtures, along with the NSCCA Executive Committee.

Fixtures are expected to be ready for distributing to clubs and members some time this week.

They will be posted on the NSCCA web site once they are complete, along with the revised NSCCA competition by-laws.

The first game is on Saturday October 10.

Mr Park said any playing rules not listed in the NSCCA by-laws would revert back to the Rules of Cricket.

He said the two rules most concerned by that scenario would be the waist high full toss rule and the bouncer rule.

The ball going clearly over the batsman’s head with no contact, will be called a wide ball.

“Our main Issue at the start of the season will be the MyCricket site and making sure all of our clubs are using it properly and getting their results in OK,” Mr Park said.

When the home and away fixtures are complete, the NSCCA will also finalise the Patrons Cup format, which could have two divisions of five teams in each.

Again, Sylvia White will be taking the scores and results from all clubs, the same as last season when she did an excellent job.

Scores will need to be sent to Sylvia by email by 2pm each Sunday.

Clubs are asked to send one email per club to ensure their scores are put in the paper and on the NSCCA web site each week.

Cricket West teams will be managed this season by Tim Park (seniors), Xavier Deering (colts), and Trevor Kearsley (veterans).

Clubs have been asked to nominate suitable players to the NSCCA Executive.

The NSCCA has a bye in the first round of the Cricket West Cup for 2009-10 and will play its first game on November 8, against WASTCA at Veryard Reserve.

Mr Park said the draw for the WACA’s Statewide 20/20 competition had also been finalised.

He said Sorrento-Duncraig would be playing the Eastern Goldfields and Joondalup-Kinross would be travelling to Leederville - both games are on November 1.

A combined Cricket West side is also scheduled to play away at a yet to be determined venue on January 10.

The NSCCA is also pleased to retain its major sponsors and supporters from last season, including Paragon Training, Kookaburra, Modern Trophies, and Damian Slattery’s Sport First store, in Clarkson.

Modern Trophies has a new proprietor, Mike Roberts, and the NSCCA welcomes him on board the team.

Joondalup Mayor, Troy Pickard, will also continue as the association’s highly valued Patron.
