Sorrento-Duncraig grand final favourites

Sat, 14 Mar 2009

SORRENTO-Duncraig will go into this season’s North Suburban Community Cricket Association A Grade Grand final, as firm favourites, having won its last ten games on the trot, including last weekend’s semi final.

The traditional NSCCA four-day grand finals start today, and will be played over the weekends of March 14 and 15, and March 21 and 22.

Sorrento-Duncraig finished top of the ladder at the conclusion of the home and away rounds, and won their way through to the final with a 24 run victory over Quinns Rocks in the semi final.

Their last loss came in round four in a two-day game against North Beach at Charles Riley Reserve.

The Vikings boast a strong bowling line up, which has proved to be the main difference in its end of season form, thanks mainly to the return of left-armer Rick Tyson and the striking power of skipper Shane Paap.

The strong north coastal club also have two other grades featuring in this season’s grand finals, in B Grade and E Grade.

Their A Grade grand final opponents Joondalup-Kinross made it through to the season decider after a decisive 37 run win over Wanneroo last weekend.

Joondalup-Kinross boast a strong all-round team with a good blend of youth and experience.

The NSCCA will also hand out premiership medallions to the grand final winners, at the conclusion of each match.
