Premiership Medals to be handed out
Thu, 5 Mar 2009The North Suburban Community Cricket Association will hand out premiership medals to all players from the winning teams in the 2008-09 grand final series, at the completion of each match.
The decision was made at the Executive meeting this week, to ensure proper acknowledgement is provided to the premiership players.
The grand final winners also will be acknowledged at the end of season wind up on May 2.
However, the handing out of the winner’s medals on the day of victory, by either the officiating umpires, or a member of the NSCCA Executive, will ensure the players are recognised for their winning efforts at the moment of celebration.
The semi-finals for A-G Grade will be held this weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, with the winners to go into the traditional four day grand finals over the following two weekends.
The Association has also issued a final warning to clubs regarding breaches of liquor licensing laws.
The warning comes after visiting clubs and supporters, were reported to be drinking and selling alcohol, out of eskies.
Speaking at the meeting, NSCCA president Tim Park said the issue had been raised with the Executive a number of times this season, and this was now the final warning.
Mr Park said selling alcohol out of eskies was not on.
He said it not only breached liquor licensing laws, but also prevented the home clubs from earning much needed revenue from bar takings.
“The message to everyone now is, ‘do not do it’, because we will come down hard on anyone and any clubs caught selling or drinking alcohol out of an esky,” he said.
“This is the final notice and warning and anyone caught offending will get a penalty from the Association.
“If it happens during the finals it is up to the home clubs to report any breaches to the Executive and we will take action.”
The Association will also appoint two umpires for all semi-finals.
Clubs will be required to pay for the two umpires in the semi finals.
However, those teams that are successful in making the grand finals over the weekends of March 14 and 15, and March 21 and 22 will not have to pay for the umpires.
